UAE, Dubai, Lebanon & Syria — Introduction

The wonders of Arabia have enthralled travellers for centuries and the fascination continues across these almost mystical lands.

The United Arab Emirates offer beaches, upmarket shopping and world-class restaurants – but there is also something more. The Emirates have an intoxicating traditional culture and wonderfully contrasting landscapes, from awe-inspiring dunes to rich oases, precipitous rocky mountains to fertile plains, all embraced in a Middle Eastern welcome.

Today Dubai has transformed itself into one of the most elegant and vibrant destinations in the world. Alongside its traditional souks sits 21st century modernity with glittering shopping malls and the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa.

The Syrian capital Damascus is regarded as the oldest city in the world and has preserved much of its heritage making it a delight for history buffs.

Syria’s neighbour Lebanon lies at the crossroads of Europe, Africa and the Middle East and with 200 kilometres of coastline and two mountain chains you can ski and sunbathe on the same day.

Jordan’s archaeological treasures are many and Jerash, home to the ancient city of Petra, is one to behold.
